Xander is three weeks old today! This past week we’ve noticed that he is more alert and starting to interact. He actually smiles at us! He has the cutest smile. This morning Jak and I gave him a “love sandwich” which is us hugging him and kissing his cheeks at the same time, and he smiled afterward and it melted our hearts.
In the three weeks of Xander’s life, we’ve been able to learn what his cries mean. There is a very distinct pitch in his cry when he is hungry and he is not fond of waiting for food for very long before they become shrieks. Given that I know how impatient Xander can be for food, last night, since Jak takes night shifts since I take care of him all day, I cleaned all the bottles, filled them with water, that way they were ready to go for Jak to put the formula powder in so Xander wouldn’t have to wait too long for food. The way we learned his high pitch cry was when we only had a bottle of Similac formula in the fridge left, and we had to warm up the formula for each feeding. Xander was not very happy about waiting for the bottle to warm up, so we’ve bought powder formula since. When both Jak and I are home taking care of Xander, when he starts crying, one of us changes the diaper while the other gets the bottle ready, that way by the time Xander is changed his bottle is ready to go for a feeding.

We are all learning, and still are. Xander is learning more about us and we are learning more about him.
XOXO Savvy
Beautiful baby boy & I love the name Xander!
